Some puppies are born with special needs. In most cases, it’s mainly caused by genetic issues because of inbreeding by backyard breeders. When the puppies born are less than perfect, backyard breeders tend to abandon them or surrender them to shelters to be euthanized.
A puppy named Chance was born without his two front legs. Fortunately, a loving family adopted Chance. Despite missing his two front legs, this little pup is very friendly, playful, and loves to cuddle. Chance doesn’t know that anything about him is different.
Unfortunately, Chance always has a hard time getting around because of his disability. He has problems moving, especially on hard and slippery surfaces, such as hardwood floors and tiles. The little dog moves around just fine on a carpeted surface where there’s more grip for his back legs to propel him forward.
However, everything’s about to change for Chance when his owner, Tenisha Clarke, asked her teacher if there’s a way for him to help her differently abled dog. The teacher decided to make it a project for his Grade 9 students to build something to help Chance have better mobility.
The Grade 9 students were divided into groups, and everyone did such a fantastic job designing Chance’s wheels. There were several trials and fittings, but they eventually settled for a design that involved strips of aluminum, and model airplane wheels.
A dog wheelchair is expensive. Thankfully, innovative students were able to design something for Chance to help him walk and run around. The amazing students that helped design the pup’s new wheels were proud of their creation.
Chance’s family is planning to get chance prosthetic limbs when he’s fully grown. But, until then, they’re more than happy for Chance to run around in a pair of wheels. After Chance got used to his wheels, he’s a lot happier and a lot more playful. The wheels gave him the ability to run like the wind. Here’s a heartwarming video showing how a bunch of Grade 9 students helped a puppy with two legs run.
