Just like people, pets have feelings too. They also experience boredom and sadness from time to time, especially if they are deprived of activities they used to enjoy. This is how Pop, a 3-year-old English Bulldog, felt when he and his owner, Rashida Ellis, resorted to staying at home to avoid social interaction.
Ellis was working from home one day when she noticed her pet, whom she sometimes refers to as Big Poppa, looking out their apartment patio. The woman heard his whining and observed how he sat down with his head bowed. As soon as she observed Pop and his actions, she realized that her furry companion was lonely. Because of the COVID-19 threat, they have not ventured outdoors for some time.
The woman believed it to be the ideal opportunity to capture a photo of Pop looking adorably sad. Therefore, she grabbed her phone, snapped a photo, and sent it to her friends. After snapping photographs of him, she approached him and petted him.
Ellis observed children playing outside upon checking where Pop was looking. She then realized that these were the children were the ones that he used to play with before they had to quarantine themselves at home. In addition, she realized he had been waiting for the children to see him, but they never did.
This was the reason why Pop became sad. He never captured any of the children’s interest. He felt even more miserable as he watched his friends play without him from a distance.
Now, Ellis holds a special place in her heart for Pop. According to her, her closeness to her furry companion during quarantine is of great importance. Therefore, she decided to express her affection for his furry companion by tweeting adorable photos of him.
The next morning, she was surprised to discover that her dog’s story had gone viral.
Big Poppa has been so sad today, I think he miss playing with the kids in the building. He just watches them from the patio pic.twitter.com/gVooqvZ5oI
