When foster fur mom Tara met Daenerys early last year, the pit bull was in a horrible condition. She was abandoned in an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona and only weighed under 25lb, indicating that she had suffered a life of abuse. Despite her situation, though, the pup was the sweetest and most trusting dog Tara ever met.
In fact, she and her fellow rescuers didn’t encounter any difficulty rescuing Daenerys as she willingly came up to them with a wagging tail. It was clear that she wasn’t afraid of them and even let them pet her and give her head scratches. After gaining her trust, they quickly worked on getting her out of the apartment.
The foster fur mom then went straight to nursing the pit bull back to health. She fed her healthy meals and helped her get acquainted with her new life full of love and care. At first, Tara admitted that Daenerys’ road to recovery wasn’t a smooth one.
It took the pup almost a week to gain enough strength to walk around the house, but from there, she slowly recovered and began to gain more weight. As the weeks passed by, Daenerys eventually started showing her bubbly personality. She became very playful and affectionate, much to Tara’s delight.
Unfortunately, no one really seemed to be interested in adopting her as she was an older pit bull. Her ideal home also needed to be dog-free and kid-free, making it harder to match her with a family. Lucky for her, some local media caught wind of her story and featured her online.
That was when Colorado resident Justine saw the pup. She had been looking for a dog to adopt for several months now, but there wasn’t one who resonated with her until Daenerys came along. As soon as she saw her on Facebook, she immediately decided to send in an application.
Thankfully, she was approved, and before long, Tara and another shelter worker were on their way to drive Daenerys home. The pup is now happily living with her new fur mom in Colorado, away from the abusive and cruel life she once knew. Watch the pit bull’s story here.
