While Manuel Vejar was serving in the US Navy in 2013, he received bad news. Back home, his pup, Champ, ran away, and the dog could not be found. This development shattered the heart of Manuel and his wife because it was the latter who was looking after the pooch when the incident happened.
But while he was saddened, Manuel was still hopeful that they would find the missing pooch. As soon as they knew that the dog was missing, Manuel and his wife did everything to locate Champ.
Manuel’s wife asked the neighborhood and coordinated with the local police, so their chances of finding the dog would be high. However, the couple’s efforts were futile as there were no leads for the dog’s whereabouts.
Still, the two did not give up and continued with the search. They searched for days, weeks and months. After a year, Manuel and his wife began to accept that they would no longer find their beloved dog. Years had passed, but there were no positive developments about the dog’s whereabouts.
Manuel recalled the first time he saw Champ. The dog was still a puppy then at an animal shelter. The veteran then told himself that Champ would be the pooch he would adopt, and true to his words, Manuel did adopt Champ.
Manuel only had three months to spend with Champ before being deployed to another place in 2013. Despite this, he promised his four legged friend that he would return, and they would play again. This promise though, was not fulfilled, as the dog went missing.
Manuel had finally moved on, but recently he got word that Champ was found! A local farmer found the pooch and it was a good thing that he was microchipped.
Manuel immediately went to the farm and identified that the dog found by the farmer was indeed Champ. The reunion happened eight years after the dog went missing. Champ had defied the odds and was reunited with his family.
