For some kids, middle school is a difficult phase in their young lives. It is a transition period that leaves many youngsters confused and scared.
For a kid named Carson, this is the stage where school life became unbearable. He grew sad and depressed because he was constantly bullied.
Carson’s parents worried about him. he seemed lonely and didn’t have any friends. Every day was a struggle for him. It took all the boy’s courage to get up and bring himself to attend his classes. They knew something had to be done.
A new best friend
The first thing they did was to talk to the school authorities. But it seemed nothing was changing. They sought out professional help wherever they could, but it didn’t work as well. The boy needed to find a friend, and Carson’s mom stumbled upon an idea.
Maybe his son would feel better if he had a friend. A dog would most likely make an effective change. So she started to look for the perfect canine companion for him. Her search led her to a Virginia-based rescue group called A Forever Home Rescue Foundation.
An inspiration
The concerned mom met a six-month-old puppy named Zero. He got involved in a car accident that resulted in the amputation of one of his legs. The puppy had to learn how to overcome the challenges in his life. And he needed someone to love and care for him.
The pup’s resilience and amiable character made Carson’s mom fall in love with the puppy. She felt that the dog would be an inspiration for his son. And she was right. The two hit it off right away, and Carson fed off the pup’s confidence.
When school started again, the young boy had a vast improvement in his mental health. The bullies are still there, but he has found a new approach to dealing with them. Carson knows that he has a loyal friend waiting for him when he gets home.
