When you hear of abandoned and crippled dogs that have been found, it usually includes a shady location that no one ever visits, such as an old house or a structure that you would be hesitant to enter at night. It’s not anyone’s fault that the dog is in such a predicament, except, of course, the person who threw out the poor animal.
Then you hear about an abandoned animal that had been lying on the side of a busy road for the last 24 hours. There are cars parked in the area, showing that people must have observed the miserable critter in there. It was not moving but is very much alive.
This is precisely the situation that this white, fluffy ball of cuteness had when it was discovered.
The person who had reported about the dog had probably first seen the dog the day before. That person may not have given the dog much thought when he saw the dog the first time but when he saw it again, he knew that the dog was alone and in severe need of assistance.
He was still on the phone reporting to the authorities about the dog when a rescuer arrived. The rescuer approached the dog after getting information about the dog from the informant. He tried to see if she would try to flee.
The rescuer also assumed that the dog’s pelvis was shattered when he noticed she couldn’t stand, let alone run away from him. So he gently wrapped her in a blanket before putting her inside his truck to take to the shelter. She did whimper, but mostly remained unresponsive.
His concerns were confirmed after an X-ray was performed at the shelter, and the dog was confined so that she could be monitored. She couldn’t take a bath because she was still in so much agony and needed to rest first.
Fortunately, the future of this dog the shelter staff named Lady did not appear to be so bleak.
Lady was able to regain control of her body and make a full recovery after only a few weeks of rehabilitation. The best part was that she had finally found her forever home, where she could run as much as she wanted, all day, every day.
