Hemeh, a Shiba Inu, is most certainly a very smart dog. She sits and stays on command and knows how to play dead, too. She’s also incredibly obedient when her human dad is around. But when all she has is her human mom, she is atrocious.
Growing up, Hemeh spent most of her puppy days with her dad. She followed anything her Dada wanted her to do. She loved and obeyed him from the very start. She knew that in their house, her dad was first in command.
The young dog lives by what her dad says, 100%. But when it comes to her mom, she has reservations. She loves her, that’s for sure, but she doesn’t seem to realize that her mom is also in command. She doesn’t want to accept that her mom holds a higher rank than her.
Shiba Inus are intelligent dogs and they need someone to guide them. They recognize who is in charge and ranks are crucial for them. It is very important that their owners demonstrate authority over them or they will try and rule the house.
Hemeh has been used to disobeying and despising her mom. She snarls and charges at her. She barks if her mom tries to stop her from doing something crazy. She acts like she owns everything around the house and she gets agitated when her mom touches anything.
It’s time that Hemeh learns her limits, her parents agreed. They wanted her to become the best dog that she can be, so they called in Lee Chan Jong, Director of ESAC Pet Training Center. They knew that their dog would do great wonders under Lee’s guidance.
The first thing Lee did was to move Hemeh’s bed, which was once in the living room. It’s a small change but it brought a huge difference in the environment. The moment it was gone, the dog felt the need to find comfort and she found it in her mom.
Eventually, Hemeh learned to wait. She stopped being demanding and started acting placid. She no longer felt the need to harass her mom. Instead, she acknowledged that her mom has the higher authority and not her.
