A homeless dog named Sebal was just a puppy when he first showed up in a neighborhood in South Korea. He looked clean but he was so skinny. He didn’t wear a collar nor did he have a microchip so people had no idea where he lived or who owned him.
Kind neighbors tried to rescue Sebal but failed. No matter what they tried, he refused to let anyone near him. He always kept his distance and never did he trust any of them.
A woman who gave the dog his name went to visit Sebal two times a day. She brought him food and water, and she worked hard trying to gain his trust. Like most people, however, she was unsuccessful. Despite her failure, she continued to look after the dog.
Sebal ran away from everyone. But when neighbors came with their dogs, he found the courage to walk toward them. He initiated to play no matter the dog’s size, age, or color. He was smitten with every pup in the neighborhood and he wanted to be friends with all of them.
Except for his missing leg, Sebal looked great. His fur was filthy but it didn’t seem like he had any skin condition. He finished his meals all the time, and he was active and playful, after all. Sure, he was in great shape, but he needed to see the doctor because he limped when he walked.
Local rescuers stepped in and set up a humane trap in the same spot where Sebal usually ate. They also placed one of his dog friends inside the cage to convince him that it was safe to get inside the cage. A few minutes later, they were able to safely capture the dog.
Sebal went straight to the veterinary hospital in the city for immediate medical care. He was healthy enough so he got into surgery right away. And once he recovered, he continued to his new home, where his adoptive mom eagerly waited for his arrival.
As the dog started a new life, he also got a new name, Taegwang. He was confused by the sudden change in his life but his new mom made him feel safe. His new dog siblings also helped him adjust to his new environment. In no time, he knew he was home.
