JoAnn Wiltz, a volunteer rescuer of Hope For Paws Animal Rescue in L.A., headed out right away when she learned that a dog had been on the streets for more than two weeks already. She quickly went to work once she was on-site and offered the pup some treats to try and gain its trust. But she soon realized luring the animal with food wasn’t the best option.
Terrified, the pup stood up and began to walk. The rescuer thought it would walk toward her but she was wrong. Instead, the dog approached the opposite direction and headed to the busy street.
Worried about the dog’s safety, JoAnn decided to set up a trap instead. She waited for a short while and eventually, the dog walked into the cage. She calmed the frantic animal she realized was a girl and named it Ness.
On their way to the animal clinic, JoAnn received another call that required an immediate response. And so, she drove straight to the location and met with a kind family. She learned that they spotted the injured puppy dragging itself across the road so they brought it home and kept it while they sought help.
JoAnn took the little boy and named him Ness. She thanked the family for their noble heart and promised them she’d do everything to help get the puppy fixed. Afterward, she went back on the road and continued to the animal clinic.
Both dogs got the medical attention they needed. Peach was in excellent health so she got a much-needed bath right away. Ness, meanwhile, had to undergo a much extensive check-up because of his broken hind legs.
From the clinic, Peach went straight to her foster home with L.A. Animal Rescue. She thrived under their care and she’s now ready to find her forever home.
Ness, on the other hand, stayed with JoAnn for five weeks. He did incredibly great under her care and he healed in no time. Once he fully recovered, he said goodbye and continued to his new loving home.
