Like most four-year-old kids, Gianella and Luna Gonzalez prepared a wishlist for Christmas. They wrote their letter to Santa and tied it to a balloon. They hoped that it would travel to the North Pole and Santa would make their Christmas wishes come true.
Aside from toys, their wishlist included a very special gift. The twins wanted a puppy.
The little girls have always wanted a pup ever since their dog of 12 years passed away. What they didn’t realize is that a stranger would get the letter and make all their wishes come true.
Opposite direction
When the twins released the ballon, they hoped that it would go up north. But fate had other plans. The balloon drifted in the opposite direction and traveled 650 miles before finally settling down. All the way from Kansas, it landed in Louisiana.
A kind man by the name of Alvin Bamburg found the balloon nestled in the branches of a tree on his property. He noticed that a note was tied on the string and he took it. After reading the letter he decided to be the Santa for those kids that year.
The letter lacked information and contact details so he went online and posted a photo of the balloon and the letter. He eventually got in touch with the mother of the twins, Leticia Gonzalez.
Alvin told her of his plans and she was thrilled that someone was going to give her daughters a surprise. She agreed to Alvin’s plans eagerly.
650 miles
Alvin bought the toys on the list first. This included candies, a Spiderman ball, a My Little Pony figurine, and a Frozen doll. He then shipped it to their home.
The puppy was another matter.
He found a pup named Max, and together with his wife, drove 650 miles to Gonzalez’s home.
The twins were ecstatic when they learned that the new pup was theirs. They welcomed him with open arms and fussed over him continually. They were also very grateful for the huge gesture that the kind man did.
